Improved Time estimates

Thanks much for the service and for the opportunity to recommend improvements. I would like to be able to see my cumulative workload hours, not just estimates for the current day. So, for example, I could look at a view of all my Today or Next or individual Project tasks or total tasks over all projects and see how many hours I would estimate for it to take to complete them.

Ideally the entry on this would be on the new task entry, and always tied to the task and not to the daily plan. This would help users to better determine what new projects and tasks we can commit to undertaking based on total workload.

  I totally agree. Not that I need the feature as such - because I do not have the energy to guess how long each task will take - but I think it is correct in principle to do it the way you suggest instead of having the separate "daily plan" as some extraneous feature. Much better and neater to be able to enter the task's assumed duration whenever you want, and be able to see the total summed up on any list that you care to look at.

  Folke, nice to see you over here from the other forum. I currently use incremental contexts setup as 1/4 hour up to 4 hours, and this is slightly beneficial. But it doesn't provide mathematically provide cumulative hours, and so it is just a little trick. If Doit could add an entry shortcut such as "Make a report ^Today #Work *1h" for a 1 hour task would be the perfect user experience for me.
