I know people have asked for separate area's before (http://help.doit.im/topics/713 & http://help.doit.im/topics/471), but I would like to make a suggestion on how I would like this to be implemented.

I really don't want any personal tasks showing up when viewing business tasks (and vice versa). This includes inboxed tasks that have yet to be tagged or reviewed, especially if I check it off as complete without adding personal/work tags/areas to the task. It would be extremely bad if, for example, I was at work searching for a task, and some personal notes to my psychologist showed up in the search results because I marked the task as complete while adding the notes to another task.

I see two ways to properly implement this:

Option 1: Keep a separate doit.im account for personal tasks. This is my prefered option because there is no possibility of personal and work tasks showing up in the wrong place. In order for this to work though, doit.im would need to implement logging-in/switching between multiple accounts. Google does this very well with their products (gMail etc). You can switch accounts with two clicks, and do not need to re-enter usernames and passwords. Multiple account switching would need to work just as well on the mobile platforms (iPad/iPhone in my case). This option does not completely stick to the Getting-Things-Done ideals, but DoIt.Im does a better job in my opinion anyways (with the do-it-now lightening flag for example- one of my favorite features). If this option were implemented, there would need to be an option in settings to show alerts for all accounts, or just the account currently in view/logged-in.

Option 2: Create multiple areas to segregate personal/work/etc tasks, with a drop down menu at the top of the webpage/application to select which area you are working in. This is how many other GTD task managers handle this (GetItDoneApp.com and NirvanaHQ.com for example). I have problems with this setup though, as tasks are easily mixed up between different areas, as shown in my example above (where tasks in the inbox can be checked off as done before being assigned an area, usually when they are merged with existing tasks) and when tasks show up in search results. In order for this option to work for me, I would require separate inboxes (with separate email addresses to email new tasks to doit.im), and some way of keeping inbox/completed tasks from showing up in the wrong areas (separate inboxes for each area for may be enough to keep things separate).

Please consider how important it is to segregate works tasks from personal when you implement different areas! Personal tasks can never show up at work, especially in search results, including when they are in the inbox or marked as completed.

Do you have any timeframe for when we can expect separate work and personal areas? In the mean time I am having to use a competing GTD task manager to keep my personal tasks separate, but this is painful because it lacks the features of doit.im. Multiple account switching would be amazing!
