When I create a filter as follows, it only shows tasks that have a specific start time of today and not also tasks that had a start date of yesterday and earlier. Basically, I'm looking for a way to show all tasks that I have assigned a specific context and that I need to focus on. If I just click "today" I can see everything that is today or earlier, but it's for all of my contexts and not just one.

Status = Uncompleted
Context = Work
Start Time = Today

Hello,

In your case, you may create a filter as follows:

Status = Uncompleted
Context = Work
Group by = Start time

Then when you view the filter, you will see two groups, "Today" and "Before Today", and all tasks in the filter have a same context "Work". Is it what you want?

It works for the most part, except it then lumps all of my projects together as opposed to breaking them out. It's not a significant problem I'm having, I just wanted to make note of it in case I was missing something.

I think my workaround might be using tags instead of contexts. Then I can assign each task a work or personal tag and then filter them out on the today view by clicking either the work or personal tag.

If you want to separate between personal tasks and work-related tasks, yes, you may use tags instead. We also have a video about this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6olHkwD5Upo
