A very good question, @delta6
I was shocked and confused in the same way you are, and asked about it: http://help.doit.im/topics/1448
Apparently it is not just a "bug". It is confirmed to be an intentional design - a "design bug" ;-)
Any good purpose of keeping the tags hidden has not been explained, and I myself cannot see any advantages with it at all, only disadvantages.
Doit is super nice in many ways. Far from everything is perfect, but most imperfections can be worked around manually with a moderate amount of effort, and the overall potential is huge and the team seems responsive. I believe this particular "design bug" (hidden tags) is one of the more difficult ones to work around smoothly, and probably one of the easiest ones to to fix, so hopefully they will fix this sooner rather than later.
I am very much considering to switch to Doit.im from Nirvana as there is a lot of development going on here. But maybe I have a stupid question here (or I can't figure this out)
But where do I see which tags I have assign to the actions? I assign a tag to the action and I can also see the tag when I edit the action. But this is not shown on the tasks list. So I have to manually edit an action every time to find the tag.
Please tell me that this is just me not being able to figure things out. Thanks!

@delta6 @Folke
Hello,
Tags in Doit.im are used to filter tasks. Tags used in tasks contained in the current box would be seen in the tag filter rows (on the top of the current list if you are using the web version; on the bottom action bar if you are using the clients).
By selecting more than one tag for filtering, you'll get tasks with both/all these tags. On the web version, to select multiple tags, hold Ctrl on the keyboard and then click on tags that you want to select; On the clients, check on multiple tags at once)
Besides, when you want to view the tags that you added to a task, click the task title to go to its details.
Shall you need any other help or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks for your feedback and support.

Yes, Michelle, I think we have all noticed this ;-)
The requested feature here is for Doit to SHOW these applied tags for each task straight on the task list.
The reason/purpose:
1) Quick selection of possible tasks to star, without even filtering - particularly easy if they are in different colors
2) Ocularly/mentally balancing conflicting tags against each other (to make the wisest task selection decision)
3) Review the accuracy and completeness of your tasks' settings

@Folke
We feel so sorry. For now, there is no plan to show up the tags on the list or colorize them. :(
But we've recorded it and may consider it in the future.
Thanks for your support on Doit.im. -

@michelle1987
To be honest with you: this makes no sense at all. Being able to see the tags on the list is crucial so that you can quickly see which tags are in use in a specific list. This has nothing to do with filtering, but having an overview of your tasks.
Please do me a favor and have a look at any other GTD app that uses tags. And just find one that does not show tags in lists.
In other words: Doit.im is the only GTD app I have seen so far that has this choice. But thanks for being so honest about it. For now I will stay with Nirvana, but I will get back in a couple of months to check if you have made any progress on this. -

@michelle1987
1. I am glad
The tags are in fact visible in doit.im - in both the Mac and the Window version. This is an important feature - I am glad it is there.
2. I am disappointed
Why didn't you say so?
3. I am worried
Do you have plans to take this away from the Windows and Mac version?
(Is that why you pretended that you do not have it at all and have no plans to implement it?)
4. I am hopeful
I can understand that it is difficult to show everything on small telephone screens, but I hope you introduce it in the web version and iPad version as well. -

@Folke
In the future, we will try to keep the consistency among the platforms we support now.
Thanks for your feedback and support. -

@michelle1987
I agree that consistency is good, but please explain (I am worried):
Is it then more likely that you will take away the visible tags from Mac and Windows, or that you will try to introduce visible tags in some of the other platforms as well? -

I did not know this neither. Great discovery @Folke
@michelle1987 - I am also curious to hear whether you will remove the visible tags from native apps or will you introduce them in the web app. THanks -

@delta6 @Folke
We feel so sorry that I couldn't not give you an explicit reply that \we will remove the visible tags from native apps or introduce them in the web app. :( We will seriously consider it.
Thanks for your support and feedback.
