Hello,
On the Mac app, if you drag a local file and drop it to task description, it will become a link, on which you click and the file will be opened.
In addition, we will consider you suggestion and spend time researching on how to implement it.
Shall you need any other help or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks for your support on Doit.im.
Links in task descriptions
I was too late to post this as a follow up to my previous question (http://help.doit.im/topics/1641) so I'm taking the liberty to start a new ticket:
In response to my previous question it was suggested that I try out the mac app, and while I do have a mac, I cannot use it for work, so it does not really cover my need.
So this is my request: I was thinking that since http:// and e-mailaddresses are already recognized and turned into hyperlinks it probably wouldn't take much to do the same with file:// and outlook: (or drive letters like C: and H: which browsers recongnize on Windows). This would allow links to files and outlook e-mail messages (and other Outlook items), which would probably be a great help at least to some, and not add any inconvenience to others.
To my mind, GTD is primarily about not having to keep things in your mind. It is therefore important to be able to reference necessary information that exists outside Doit.im in an effective manner in order to avoid having to remember where it is. Hyperlinks in task descriptions would be a great help in this respect. (Of course the links would not work on all devices, but that would primarily be because the linked to material would not be available on all devcies, since it would be stored locally.)
Thanks.

Yes, I got the Mac app to work as described. However, it's not an option for me when I'm at work.
Thanks for your answer. I'm looking forward to any and all forthcoming developments.
