On the Android app, auto sync takes place every 30 mins, but manual sync can be triggered anytime, anywhere as long as the network connect is available.
We are now redesigning the app and will improve it.

Desired situation: the Android app will sync (near) real-time - or automatically at opening or closing the app - as is the case on the iOS version.
