I tried out the calendar integration a few months ago, and basically it did all those things you are asking for without any duplication problems or other technical issues. Maybe some new bug has emerged after that, or maybe there was something you did that "confused" the app?
It sounds as if you have established both the basic calendar sync (Doit calendar) and the "reverse sync" (regular GCal calendars), so you should be all set.
A few caveats, though:
- The Doit calendar is synced on a strict one-way basis - from Doit to GCal; nothing you do to it on the GCal side will be synced back to Doit. (This is OK as far as I am concerned.)
- The regular GCal calendars are synced on a two-way basis, with some exceptions, the most important one being (if I remember correctly) that the event must be created on the GCal side. (This is also perfectly fine with me - it does not matter where I enter it as long as it stays in sync as it should, and it does.)
- When you complete or trash tasks in Doit that originate from a regular GCal calendar, then the event gets either deleted or checkmarked on the GCal side, too. (This is unacceptable to me, as many of my regular calendars are shared. I must be able to "decline" participation in shared events without destroying them for other people. And even my private regular calendars I want to keep intact as appointment journals.)
- For the syncing of the regular GCal calendars you have to press the big G button each time. (This is due to some Google limitations.)
Did you miss any of those?
- google calendar with appointments
- doit include the appointments in my task list
- a separate doit calendar with tasks in google.
Is this possible? What should I do.
Thanks!

@Folke The weird thing is that it's just started syncing not just with my doit calendar, but my regular calendar too. It didn't do that at first (which I liked!). Not sure how to make it stop at this point.

@AODR - have you disabled the "reverse sync" in the settings? And it still syncs?
Have you tried disabling all calendar sync in Doit (and/or in Google, too) - and then enable it all over again? (When weird things happen it is sometimes best to start all over.)
Other than that, I cannot think of anything, but I am sure the Doit staff will help you as soon as they get to work - give it another six hours or so. -

Hi,
Thank you for your support. The Google calendar sync is working well now. :) -

@AODR
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback!
After checking,we find you have selected a Google calendar to sync to Doit.im. So the tasks on that calendar will be synced to Doit.im.
If you do not want the Google events to be showed in Doit.im, you'd better to disable the "reverse sync" by not selecting any calendar in Doit.im Preferences.
Have a try. if you still have problem,please be free to feedback.
Best regards,
Doit.im Team

I want it to sync. I DO NOT want it to duplicate tasks in my doit account. My understanding was that the sync would create a doit calendar not that I would have a doit calendar with all my tasks and events AND that my regular calendar would also have ALL my tasks and events AND that I would have all my tasks and events in doit MORE THAN ONCE.

@Folke Thanks! I will give it a go.

@AODR
Hi,
I am sorry that I could not understand you weill. Do you have problem or you want improve the logic of this feature?
The logic of this feature is like this:
When Doit.im sync to GCal,it will creat a Doit.im calendar in GCal which display all tasks synced from Doit.im. The evens that you add on GCal in doit.im calendar will not be synced to Doit.im
When you select the calendar in Doit.im preferences to sync from GCal,the events on this calendar will be synced to Doit.im. When you add or edit the evens on GCal in this calendar will be synced to Doit.im.
What's the problem on your doit account?

@AODR and @wendy_only
I just noticed in my "local" calendar on Doit (the alternative view under Scheduled) that the vast majority of my repeating tasks appear in duplicate there (two of each) - but I only get one copy delivered to my Today list just I should.
Is this what you are referring to @AODR?
@wendy-Only: I do not have GCal sync enabled at all, so this then must be a "local" Doit problem, I did not notice any such effect when I checked out the sync a few months ago - the Doit.im calendar on GCal looked alright at that time. -

@Folke
Hi,
Do the two repeating tasks which appear in Scheduled look the same? Is there a circle icon on one of them? Please try to open it and view the details. One of the repeating task in Scheduled is the task which set the repeating rule. The other is the recurring one.
Could you please tell me the name of your repeating task which are in duplicate? If convenient to you,please make a screenshot of this view and send me by private comments. Thank you.

In the Scheduled LIST they look different - the mother task has the icon and is visible all the time. And the clone task only appears in Tomorrow the day before (as I think it is intended).
But in Scheduled's CALENDAR VIEW the mother and clone look exactly the same in the schedule - until I open them: When I open them I can see that one of them must be the mother task because it has a repeat rule specified, and the other one has not.
And In calendar view I see this for the whole month, but not consistently. Not all tasks have these duplicates. It seems the ones with shorter repeat intervals fare better. I looked at both November and December. Oh, I think I see a pattern now:
My tasks are all relatively new (yes, I have been a subscriber for a long time but not actually started to use Doit until last week). What I think I see as a pattern is that on the FIRST OCCURRENCE of a new repeating task I see both the mother and the clone, but on subsequent occasions I see only the clone (as it should be).
For example, I have a task called "SvSp" repeating every five weeks, on Nov 3, Dec 8 etc. Only the first of these occasions it appears in duplicate, but on Dec 8 and Jan 12 it does not. (I entered most tasks late last week, so Nov 3 is the first occurrence ever since I entered it.)
And, yes, I continue to see the same pattern for other tasks in January. Only the ones that appear for the first time in January appear in duplicate, but all the ones that have repeated before are single (as they should; clones only, no mothers). -

@Folke
Hi,
Yes. The rule is just what you see now and what you describe is what the tasks should be. -

@wendy_only
This does not matter to me personally (as I do not use the task calendar), but just to save Doit and new customers some potential confusion, may I ask just to double-check (in case my explanation was perhaps a bit unclear):
Are you saying that it is really the intended behavior to show the same task twice when it appears for the first time? If so, why? -

Hi,
Q:Are you saying that it is really the intended behavior to show the same task twice when it appears for the first time? If so, why?
A: The one is the mother task,and the other is the recurring one. It is because that the date that it starts repeat is the same day as the start time of the recurring task.
On the Calendar view,they look the same. It is a problem for new users to know this. We need to improve it. On the task list view, there is an icon on the mother task bar.
The mother task will not be synced to GCal.

Hi - for me it seems that doit.im is sending tasks not only the my doit calendar in gmail but also to my regular google calendar. Then, in the syncing process, my calendar is sending all of the tasks back again to doit so it is duplicating tasks all over the place. It's pretty annoying.

Hi,
Do you mean that the tasks in Doit.im are also synced to your regular google calendar?
Could you tell me the tasks' title and the name of your regular google calendar by private comment helping us find the cause if convenient to you ? -

Hi,
After checking,we find that you do not link Doit.im to GCal. So we can not check whether it is sync well between Doit.im and GCal.
Please make a screenshot of your Doit.im task list page and your regular work calendar page. And send them to me by private comments.
