I support this.
This would also be incredibly annoying for some users. I would only add it as an option for scheduled tasks, possible under the deadline tab or the reminder tab. Although Astrid defaulted to reminding you every day, you could also make this a variable.
I realize I'm not a pro user, so I'm really not a priority, but I'm curious if anyone else felt this way.

@Amodo and @dnathan
What you might do instead is try GTD:
1) Only schedule your appointments and similar "external" events; but do not schedule your own solo tasks. Simply leave these on the Next actions list without any "artificial" dates at all.
2) Every day, or several times a day, pick some more Next actions to do (and star them for your convenience).
When picking suitable Next actions to do, consider the SITUATION - what GTD calls Context, Energy, Time and Priority - in other words match a) what the different tasks on the Next actions list REQUIRE with b) what the present situation offers (or denies). For your own convenience, make use of Doit's Contexts, Tags, Priority etc to make it as easy as possible to find suitable tasks at any time.
If you ask me (and many others) it is simply a waste of time to schedule and reschedule and reschedule and remind and re-remind etc. This may work if you have a very stable and uneventful job and life, but if things are a bit fluid, with new things and thoughts and interruptions coming all the time, you are better off with GTD. -

After some consideration, I realize that you are correct and that I have been using the system somewhat incorrectly.
