Recurring Task Completed Keeps On Recurring

I had a task say "Check traffic fines" recurring twice a week.

Now I don't want to check for traffic fines any more. But the tasks keep on recurring every now and then even after removing the recurrence. The task doesn't show in scheduled task but it still pops up in my today list.

Please fix it.
