And Could you please describe the steps you did to assign a goal to a project or a task?

Now, tasks with a project already cannot be added to a goal. Because the tasks' goal should be consistent with the project's.

Hi Michelle,

I have the paid version (v3.7.27 build 20130425). When I open a a task, project or a goal, it does not give me the option to assign a goal to it.

I attempted to drag tasks or projects to a created goal. Sometimes this will work but it most instances it will not allow me to move it.

I was able to move a task without a project in one instance and project with tasks in another instance but there is no rhyme or reason as to why I was able to move these and not others.

Please advise.

Here is a tutorial image in Attach file, in which describes how to add a project/task to an existing goal.

To drag a project or a task, hover your mouse to the small area (which we call a "drag-and drop" area) in front of it and when the mouse turns cross-shaped, long press the left click and move it to an existing goal on the left-side menu.
