It must be a bug. This also happens when you add new tasks. The first task lands in a "random" position. When you add a second new task, this of course also lands in a "random" position, but what is even stranger is that the first one then also moves to some new "random" position even though you have not touched it.
I would think this is caused by the fact that when they introduced manual ordering on Dec 22, they "forgot" to implement an algorithm for "default manual ordering". Everything was thrown about randomly and you were forced to order everything manually. And many people were disappointed about the fact that automatic secondary sorting by priority had disappeared.
What I think they should do is apply a "default manual sorting" such that new items are always placed immediately before the first existing item of the same priority color. This will give us automatic priority sorting and still allow for full manual adjustment. See this thread: http://help.doit.im/topics/2600
But what they will also need to do, since they forgot to implement an algorithm from the beginning and people's lists therefore are now already in chaos, is offer a once-off tool to "set manual sorting order to default (priority)".
Changing a task in a list will automatically shuffle the order of the list.
Imagine this scenario:
- I'm reviewing the tasks in a project.
- I realize, that e.g. task 4 is already completed.
- I check the task as completed and the task disappears, - perfect! - BUT...
- the order of the tasks is automatically reordered randomly.
I assume this is a Bug and not a feature. Because if the order changes, I have to start at the top of the list again to ensure, that I have reviewed all tasks. This is very annoying.
The same happens, if I delete a task or move a task to a different project.
Sometimes the list is NOT reordered though. It seems to correlate to the size of the list and this only happens in the web-version.
Please fix this bug asap, because I prevents me from relieably reviewing my tasks in the web-version.
Thank you.
I'm using Chrome, Version 31.
