+1 cool idea.
if we can have a progress bar for the project (example attached), I think this will add a great value for the tool - managers would like to see the progress of the project by simple view - I think the attached picture is nice
Please let me know it can be done.
I'm looking forward to hearing form you.
Thanks & regards,
R

Hi,
We have the plan to add this feature on web version. -

That is awesome. I had made the decision not to renew my subscription this year because of the discrepancy between the web version and the other platforms but that is such a killer feature!

Hi,
We takes much time in code refactoring of web version to improve it. Later we will add new features on web version.

Hi,
Where would you like to see it? On the project bar in the list? -
02/04/2014 06:11#12PRO
@wendy_only
in the project bar will be nice - the current bar is not really noticeable, and we don't know how much percentage is completed.
I hope once the reports part developed that will meet a lot of users needs, -

Is there any work being done to also show progress for individual tasks? I would like to be able to see tasks I've started versus ones that I haven't started yet. Perhaps the check box could be shaded a different color for ones that are "started but not finished" yet. -

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
The progress bar is a overview . Do you mean that you want to see the specific figures and the bar to be more noticeable? -

@hntopper
Hi,
For individual tasks,what do you want to reply on to judge the tasks that you've started versus ones that haven't started yet? -
02/09/2014 18:55#16PRO
Project is described in project description, 9 tasks completed and 1 not completed does not mean 90% completed in GTD. Most of the time you have 1 or 2 next actions in project. Maybe it should be optional.

@bjohny
Actually doit is task management tool more than project management (we don't have Grant chart, projects reports etc.) and It depends how do you manage your projects, if you make project 1 = 10 equal tasks then 9 tasks mean 90%,
I think if doit.im add the feature that will add a real good value, and I think adding reports part (weekly, monthly, performance reports) will add great value since only producteev and todoist.com have the reporting features.

@Roushdy
You are right. It really depends on how you use Doit.im and GTD. Take this two examples:
1. You add 10 tasks, all needed to be completed on the project (i.e. find nearest mechanic number, call mechanic, go to mechanic, get the car from mechanic)
2. You complete 5 of them, and it's 50%
Note, that all of this 10 tasks probably are not "next actions", but are correlated and depending on each other. (There is always "Someday" option)
Second example:
1. You add next action to see what you can do in present moment (GTD principle): "Find mechanic number"
2. You complete this task (you have 1 completed, 0 more), it doesn't mean 100% of project
3. You add next: "Call mechanic" (or you just call after finding number and add "Go to mechanic")
4. You have 1 completed and 1 next, it doesn't mean 50% of project
So I think if this feature will be added, it should be optional to not create messy information for all the users.
For me, counter of tasks in project is enough on the list. :) -

Question: For individual tasks,what do you want to reply on to judge the tasks that you've started versus ones that haven't started yet?
I just want to be able to quickly tell which actions I've started to complete and are "in process" vs which ones I have yet to do anyting with. Example: If I have my Today list, Next Actions list, Waiting For list, or a Project list, I would like to quickly be able to look at those lists to distinguish which tasks that are "in process" of being completed versus nothing has been done to complete them. For example: I may have 10 tasks that I'm waiting for someone else to complete. Sometimes I send reminder emails to the people delegated to complete the tasks. Perhaps I want to see who I've sent the reminder emails to vs who I have not. Perhaps I have an action item of completing a report for my boss. Maybe I've started the report but couldn't finish it right away. I would like to be able to see that that report has been started but it's not quite done yet.
My original suggestion was to use the check box and shade it a specific color for tasks that are "in process". So for example if you click the task's check box once, the box turns light green and that represents that the task has been started and is in process of being completed. If you double click the task's check box, you check off the task off as being completed.
In other task management software, each task has a progress setting that you can identify how much of that task is completed (ie. Pocket Informant, Outlook Tasks). They do this by selecting a % (25%, 50%, 75%). While I do not find this useful, I would like to know which are in process of being completed vs ones that are not. This is just small way of seeing process to getting stuff doneI
In Doit (next actions and Doit Now), and it other task management apps I've used, I've devloped a "hack" work around that allows me to quickly distinguish this concept using a "dumby" task and manual sort feature. I have created a "In Process Task" and put that at the bottom of the Doit Now list and my Next action lists. I then manually sort any task that I have started and is "in process" below this line so I can clearly see which one(s) I'm working on versus ones I have started yet. Given some of the setu up for Doit, this only works part of the time and requires the use of dumby tasks. That is why I'm asking for the feature to be added.
Thank you. -

Hi,
Thank you for your detailed description and suggestions on this function. We will consider it seriously.
Tow suggestions:
1. Now we suggest you to divide the big task to small tasks. In this way you can complete one task easier.
2. You also can add the steps as subtasks to the task.
Best regards,

Hi Doit.im Team,
Very often I create a main task with a couple of subtasks. It will be very useful if I could see the progress bar for the main task.
For example : I completed 5 of 10 subtasks then the main task should be marked as "50 % completed"
Do you have such feature? Any plans ?
Thank you in advance. -
