I'm a new user and planning to join doit.im. Back up is the feature that is letting me thinking before joining here. Ultimately my data is my data. They needed to be with me all the time and any time I want.
Do you have any plan in near future?

@bubaibhatta @rbcave
Hi,
Please do not worry about the data. We will try our best to make them safe.
We are considering to add this feature. Now we are working on opening API.

Even though the chance of losing data is minimal, system failures do happen. Any person, who has ever lost some data (like me), appreciates a backup feature.
An open API sounds great, especially for migrating from other GTD systems! -

Huge fan of doit.im! And I would also like a back-up data feature. Thanks!

As many "standard" users of Doit I have business studies and therefore my knowldge of computer programming is very low.
Could you please explain the difference between export feature and API?
How is the API going to let me do the export?
Thanks.

@joaquinmari
Some one can use our API to export and import data. If you can not do that by yourself,later there will other users help you. -

OK thanks. I hope they will.

I am also eagerly awaiting the ability to back up my doti list. I have my whole life there - plans for the next few years etc.
Hope you will fix this soon. -

As a "normal"I don't understand ver y well what an API is, but in this post http://help.doit.im/topics/4392 somebody says that it doesn't allow export.
I went back to Evernote and won't consider renewing muy pro account untill the Doit team decides to really provide this feature.
Thw Doit team is so mistaken... -

@frawan, search "export" in this forum and you will realize that Doit doesn't intend to implementación this feature.
Doit will never take off untill they decide to have a more reliable philosophy. -

It's been years since doit.im team has said they are "working on a backup feature". However; nothing has happened!
This really gives me the impression that they don't care jack about us, users. They have made an amazingly feature rich app for mobile to go with their Doit.im system, but a massively important feature like backup/export is still missing.
For the Doit.im team; don't worry about people leaving easier because of an export feature. People will leave because you don't support export!!
My PRO account will run out in a few weeks and I'm hard at work exporting my lists by hand because I don't trust a team that does not trust its users. -

Hi,
Count me in, I would like to see the backup feature too. The reason is disaster recovery. I do backup my google calendars, my email, my system configuration ... everything. I am trying to make GTD part of my life. If I want to depend on it, I need to have some sort of backup. Now I should probably be able to write custom backup script (backup the web interface; mostly everything under https://i.doit.im/home/#/...) but certainly I don't want to.
I will quite surely be buying this year's subscription, but backup is very important to me.
Thank you

@wendy_only: your last comment is not visible to us.
Is there an official statement on when a backup feature is planned to be provided?
(do we have a roadmap?) -

@bischof
Hi,
Sorry that I could not tell you the roadmap.
We are considering providing a feature in forum that Doit.im users could vote to decide which feature is needed to be developed.
Best regards,

A backup feature is necessary and NO the data is NOT safe on the server. I just realized that my data was not syncing properly and of the many changes that I have made in the last week only some remain. It seems random to me what changes were saved and what changes were lost. The help desk is working with me to get my data back, but as of now, know that your data is not necessarily safe on the server :(

@Bjkralov
Hi,
If you are Pro user, you could sync your data to our server which could make the data safe. If you keep the data on your local device, you may lose them when you lose the device. Please complete syncing on your apps. Data is safe on our server.
