Yes, in the windows app, the Smart Add box can be called up by the shortcut combination ctrl+alt+n, which can be changed when needed.

And manual sync can be triggered by the the shortcut combination ctrl +r, which cannot be changed.

Q1: But in case there's really no UI control for popping-up smart add in box, you might want to consider adding that missing button. I was confused by this behaviour, someone else might have missed this simple workaround at all.

A: Do you mean that you need a visual button for Smart Add showed on the interface?

Yes, exactly what I mean.

You see, the machine I'm using is a windows 8 convertible laptop/tablet hybrid. NOT windows RT, mind you. This is the windows that runs on normal laptops and desktop PCs. And I'm using doit.im windows client on it.

Thing is, when I'm docked, keyboard docking station attached to the tablet, one can just use keyboard shortcut combinations, no problem here. But when I'm off and mobile, which is most of the time (reason I bought windows 8 tablet in the first place), then I don't have a keyboard around. Just the virtual on the screen. So it would be sensible to have these two buttons here, since as you can see by my example, some of your pro users come from windows 8 tablets. And there will be more...
