I agree that the Goals functionality needs to be enhanced a lot in order to become meaningful.
I have similar requests as you have, but slightly different, partly because I have all my projects under a Goal. So, for example, quite similarly to your request I would like to be able to group the main lists (Next etc) by Goal, filter by Goal, and I would like to have a Goal overview view, where I see all projects and tasks under that Goal. Ideally I would like to have this grouped "box" by "box", but I am sure a few different grouping options would be useful - and I would like to always see the list of project names as a first group.
Goal support in filters and grouping
In order to better understand how to use Doit.im, I would like to know if you plan to implement the following features related to "Goals":
- Ability to by Project and by Goal if no project is set at the same time (i.e. showing tasks in a view grouped by Project. If a task is not belonging to a Project but is belonging to a Goal, instead of grouping in a "No project" group, group it in an appropriate Goal group)
- Ability to define filters using Goals (i.e. Add a "Group" field in the "Advanced" search dialog)
- Ability to specify a goal in the "New task" dialog.
