Thank you for lettings us know.
Importing data may help. We will seriously consider adding such a feature.
If you have any other idea on Doit.im, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Now's the time to go on a marketing blitz to catch all those users leaving and looking for a new system!

As a former Astrid user who switched over this weekend, I highly second this. None of the articles I read about Astrid's closing mentioned your product.
I used Astrid for almost 2 years, your product is much better for my needs; its faster, smoother, better syncing, less glichy, and more intuitive.
..if I could only subscribe through Google play. -

@kriscole Nevermind, I figured out how to subscribe from within the app. I'm still a newb and you guys rock.

@kriscole We also support purchase by Paypayl (http://doit.im/upgrade) or by iAp if you have iOS devices.
Do you want to import data to Doit.im from Astrid? Now, we are planning to import their data. :) If you do want to, could you please tell us what kind of data you want to import to Doit.im? How do we display their data in Doit.im?
For example, in Astrid, there are Folder and List, how can we display them in Doit.im?
And if convenient, could you please create some complicated items in your Astrid account and export them?
Then please send the exported file to us so that we can do some research on the data format exported from Astrid.
I am looking forward to hearing from you. -

I transferred everything manually as part of an extended weekly review and shut down my Astrid account already. Depending on my baby's sleeping habits, I may be able to restart things and play around with it this weekend.
As a side note, I think the most challenging part would be going from Astrid's ability to include tasks in an unlimited number of lists to your system of one context and one project per task. Before transferring over I, had Astrid tasks that were in as many as six different lists: priority, multiple contexts, areas of responsibility, and projects.
I think the easiest thing you could do is just push everything into a user's inbox let individual users make decisions on how to sort each tasks into your structure. I'm not sure if there is a way to automate that. -

Thank you for your reply.
We will take your thought into consideration.

Did anything ever come of this? I've been eyeing Doit.im ever since lifehacker featured it for the second time. I could never bring myself to leave Astrid though. Problem solved when they announced the merger. I do have a significant list to migrate however and I utility to do so would make the switch immensely easier. You would likely get a lot more new traffic if people could simply import and try things out with existing data. I moved to Wunderlist for now since they migrate from astrid but it doesn't have the feature set I'm looking for. The import is actually pretty straight forward. Astrid treats lists like you treat tags. Like kriscole said, throw all tasks in the inbox and slap on a tag for each list they are in. Viola!

We begin to work on it. If it is supported, we will let you know in real time.
Thank you for your feedback and support. -

If you want to grab Astrid users, it's probably a good idea to see if you can implement some of the Quick Add 'short' codes the Astrid client has.
E.g.: "Dinner with John next friday at 5PM at Dante's"
Astrid creates the task:
- entry: "Dinner with John"
- when: "Friday 14 juni 17PM"
- location: "Dante's"
DoIt.IM's Quick Add is great, but Astrid has a number of extra features for this. -

@woutercox
Now, it has been supported on the iPhone, Android and Mac app. If you just have one of the three devices, you may have a try now. For example, input "Meeting nest Friday at 5PM " in the Smart-add box and it will be parsed as a task in Scheduled.
And we are also considering supporting it on the other platforms. Also, location will be supported and location-based reminder is on the calendar. :)
Thank you for your feedback and support. -

Thank you for your responses. The DoIt.im tool and support are so great that I went ahead and bought a license for the Pro-version.
"Also, location will be supported and location-based reminder is on the calendar. :)"
That is very good to know! Sometimes a time-based reminder just doesn't cut it.
Like David Allen says: your mind does not remind you to buy batteries for your flashlight when you are at the store.
But your smartphone/tablet can!
To give a concrete example:
- I went to the dentist and didn't bring a sticker (necessary for my health insurance company)
- I pass the dentist every day when I go to work and return from it
I set several reminders in DoIt.IM, but since I always go to work and return home at different times, I always missed the warning. In this case, a location-based reminder would have been perfect, with the device warning me when I approach that location. And preferrably not AT the location, but BEFORE it, since you need some time to orient yourself, find a place to park, etc. If the reminder was AT the location, I would have passed it.
I'm very thankful for this great tool, it works like a dream.

Do you know what doit.im really misses to cater to Astrid audience? Sharing PROJECTS with other people.
Case study: me and my wife (used to) use Astrid to share a few shopping lists of stuff either of us might buy
during our days (groceries, and so on). When one of us buys something the other one gets the notification right away
and the task lists are always kept in sync.
In doit.im I can only seem to be able to share single tasks, which is not very convenient for this usage (I should manually
share dozens of items singularly)... I even tried to trick the system by sharing a task with subtasks, but it seems that subtask
state is NOT synched until the whole task is completed... so... if we could got either project sharing or real time subtask
state sync... that'd be enough to use doit.im for all our sharing needs :) -

Hi,
Time is running out, have you found a way to import data from Astrid? I can send you a sample file, but it's a couple MB.
Thanks! -

It would be fine if doit.im had that possibility of exporting data (=backup) Any plans for it?

@joaquinmari
It is not in our short-term development plan. :( We will consider it in the future and let you know when it is going to be supported.
Thanks for your feedback and support.
