Yes, grouping of lists (all lists, probably) by goal would be very useful. My current workaround is to keep my projects manually sorted by goal and to also prefix all project names with a goal mnemonic. This shows my roughly what I want even when I group by project. But it would be nice to have all the tasks within all the projects within the goal sorted e.g. by priority, and it would sometimes also be nice to be able to sort the project list differently and still be able to group by goal. So I agree with this request.
And making the goal visible on the task line (and visible for projects, too, in the projects view) would also sometimes be essential. It would allow people to name their goals and projects less systematically and perhaps above all, verify that all projects have been assigned to a goal. (This could also be double-checked using the grouping feature, though, under Goal: None)
I understand the frequent objection that it is necessary to limit the amount of information on the screen, so maybe a good solution would be to implement a "brief vs full" viewing toggle, and let the user decide (under settings) what should be visible in each mode? All in all, there are many things that users may want to see either always or just sometimes, e.g. goals, tags, creation/spawn date (historic start date), next repeat date and deadline for scheduled tasks, repeat patterns, note snippets, subtasks etc etc etc. Being able to customize a brief vs full view would seem to be a way to satisfy everybody's needs at all kinds of time - in normal execution mode vs inspection/planning/GTD-review mode.
Group by goals in Next Action + hashtag for goals
It would be helpful to have a group by goals like group by projects. I like the way projects automatically has a hashtag. Likewise it would be good to have a hashtag for goals too.
