@gojida
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
Now project list is supported manual sort.
Q: 1. sort by name
A: You could sort projects by Alphabet on web version. Click on the top right corner of the Preference, in the drop-down menu select "Sort Projects: by Alphabet" button. Note that if the projects are sorted by Alphabet, then the position of manually sorted before will be reset.
See the pic: http://faq.doit.im/web.html#86
Q: 2. sort by context
A: I could not understand you well. Could you please describe it in details?
Shall you need any help or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me back.
Thank you for your support!
Best regards,
Doit.im Team

hi,
I basically categorize my projects into two categories, one type for my job, another for the rest. When creating project, I cannot set tag but I can set context for a project. So I used context to indicate the category of a project.
So when I suggested sorting project by context, this is where I'm coming from. I prefer to have a clear view of project listing separating personal projects and work projects.

I agree that some automatic sorting options would be useful, and manual sorting is very useful, too. A combination would be very nice, for example to first group by work/private etc and then manually within each group.
I also agree that being able to separate work from private etc is also essential. Instead of using Context as such a work-private separator I would recommend using Goal, and to have the option to group the project list by Goal. This is because Context, in the GTD sense, does not normally apply to entire projects, only to individual tasks. In GTD, context means that a certain person, tool, place etc is necessary for being able to do the task, and this is also a very useful feature.
But either way, Doit needs both types of mechanism - both a mechanism for separating projects depending on Area/Goal etc ("sector of my life") (and I suggest the existing Goal feature is used and enhanced for that purpose, in particular the ability to see all tasks within a selected Goal) and a mechanism for identifying situational requirements (and I suggest the existing Context and Tags feature are better harmonized for this purpose to allow both instant quick filtering by any such situational requirement combination and list grouping by the main situational requirements only). -

My workaround for this on doit: I separate my projects by giving them initial headers (mine are Home: Work: and some specific domains within work that tend to have lots of projects). That way, when I alphabetize the list, my Home and Work projects sort into different parts of the list.

mpstafford, I use the same workaround. I have five "groups" at the top level and prefix all my projects with a mnemonic for the "group" (area group or goal).
(I also have these groups defined as Doit Goals, but that does not really give me much benefit. Besides being able to clixk into each Goal to see which projects are in it, there is really nothing at all I can do with it. It is good to see the project classification clearly in all lists, and prefixing their names is probably the best method available for now.) -

hi,
The prefix is a good idea. Thank you!
I will rename my projects in this manner, but most likely with a short prefix like 'P:' and 'W:' so that the already long project title can still fit my mobile screen.
