Did you see the Doit.im icon on your Chrome browser? Right click it and select "Options". On the page that comes up, please make sure if you have checked the checkbox in front of Gmail. (See in the image)

I just passed through the same problems.

I solved it when I realized that there are two extensions in the chrome store: the correct one is at
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/doitim/pfahpnenjpaanicmlpkdfliemipjhjic?utm_source=plus

when you install that one... you get the doit extension functioning and you can access the options, otherwise you cannot.
