Q: but my tasks (to which I've added a date) do not show up in my calendar,
A: Are these tasks created before you link to GCal or after? The tasks created after you link to GCal will be synced to GCal.
Q: and things I add to my Doit.im calendar do not show up in the doit.im task list, even after pressing "sync".
A: Tasks in Doit.im calendar will not be synced back to Doit.im. In other calendars will be synced to Doit.im if you select it in Doit.im settings page on web version.

I have connected Doit.im to my google calendar, but my tasks (to which I've added a date) do not show up in my calendar, and things I add to my Doit.im calendar do not show up in the doit.im task list, even after pressing "sync".
