I am glad to hear that you are considering this.
May I then also remind you that not only the saved advanced filters are important. Equally important (if not more important) are the volatile quick filers ("tag filters"). This is so because very often the filtering you may want to do is something you do not foresee doing again, and you therefore do not want to have to name and save the filter and then have to delete it in order to keep your list of filters short.
Just clicking the tags (or contexts or goals or other things) is quicker and easier, for example shift-click to include (OR) and alt-click to exclude (NOT). -

Sorry I don't understand the sentences below :
1. "the volatile quick filers ("tag filters"). " , do you mean tag the filters ?
2. "Just clicking the tags (or contexts or goals or other things) is quicker and easier, for example shift-click to include (OR) and alt-click to exclude (NOT)." , do you mean tag the tasks ?
Thank you for the reply. -

Sorry if I was unclear:
1. In Doit there are two kinds of filters. One is the "advanced filter" that you can and must save. This is useful for filtering that you want to do often in exactly the same way. The other filter is simpler and cannot be saved. You just click a tag and the list gets correspondingly reduced; you see only tasks that have that tag. This is useful for simple filtering that is different every time. This is what I was referring to as the "quick filter".
2a. It would be possible to invert and enhance the function of the quick filter. Instead of just being able to select tasks that have a certain Tag by clicking on the Tag (or ANDing, narrowing down further, by ctrl-clicking it, which we can also do today) it would be possible to implement EXCLUSION (NOT) and further INCLUSION (OR) by using other key combinations, such as alt-click and shift-click, e.g alt-click the Tag to exclude tasks with that Tag from the list in front of you.
2b. It would be useful if the quick filter could use not only Tags, bit also Contexts, Projects and Goals. One way to implement this would be to allow the user to, say, alt-click any Contexts, Projects and Goals in the left menu to exclude tasks of those categories from the list in front of you (e.g. the Next list)
I hope this explanation was clearer. -

@Folke
Thank you for your clear explanation, I understand now, I think that's a lovely idea : )
Please review the following summary of your features :
1. For "quick filter", it would be possible to implement EXCLUSION (NOT) and further INCLUSION (OR) by using other key combinations, such as alt-click and shift-click.
2. Not only Tags, but also Contexts, Projects and Goals would allow the user to exclude tasks of those categories.
We've recorded these features and will take your suggestion into consideration.
Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate your support!
