Reid,
I agree with you, and it cannot be done automatically anymore - only by manual drag-drop sorting. The Next list used to behave just like the Waiting and Someday lists still do, but when manual drag-drop sorting was introduced in late 2013 (only for the Next list) the automatic subsorting by Priority disappeared (on the Next list).
Personally I like automatic subsorting by priority, but I would also like the ability to make manual adjustments within each priority bracket. I hope they can fix this problem, and combine the best of both worlds. .

Hi,
Do you mean that you want to group the next task by context and sort them by priority? Now you could manual sort the tasks in Next when you group the tasks by context. We are considering adding Focus option in Filter.
Thank you for your support.

Just to clarify, I have set up a filter so that I can sort by context and then by priority, but that includes all items in that context (Next, Scheduled, Waiting, etc.). I would love to be able to sort only my Next list by context and then priority and leave all other items in that context but not on my Next list out of the sort. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your response.

Hi,
It has been in our developing plan. We will add Focus to Filter option.

I think I figured out a way to do what you're trying to do:
1. go to advanced search
2. select "priority" and type "high" in the search box
3. group by "context"
It doesn't only show you the items in a context that are high priority, but if you (like I was) just want to see the high priority item regardless of when they are due, that's how to do it.
You can save it as a filter.
Hope this helps -
