On iPad, to save the changes you made on the task editing page, retract the keyboard or as you said above, touch another field in the task.
We are now redesigning the app and will consider optimizing it.

When I add a new task, enter a title and description and then touch another task, the description is lost. This is quite annoying because I tend to add tasks to my inbox and regularly discover descriptions got lost. I have to touch another field in the task to get things saved.
