Hi @agoodwin21 ,
Thanks for this amazing feedback. I agree with most of what you mentioned. Of course some ideas I don't like or simply don't interest me but I can understand not everyone works the same way, however, your ideas were stunning in general. I wished you wrote this under the same thread I posted because this would be bring continuous alerts to Doit to follow with us which works better than multiple threads, and you were in no way going to hijack the thread at all. Nevertheless, one or multiple threads doesn't matter, what matters is that Doit listen to the opinion of the users and consider our thoughts.
Many thanks again. Great job.
Best regards,
Wassim
BUG in 5.x
1. When using the Context view, it will not show any tasks for "tomorrow". The Context header increments the count of items for it but does not actually show the task in the tomorrow section. It does show tasks for today, next and someday.
2. What increments the counter value on the app icon? I ask as yesterday mine said 5, however I had completed all tasks. Today it shows 20, however I only see 15 actual tasks for today. I agree with others that making this number value displayed configurable is highly desired as it just causes unnecessary stress.
MISSING FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY
3. Ability to add multiple context values to a task such as "Call using phone" and "Agenda with Bob". Currently, I try using tags to help with this, but the apps tag system is a mess to manage.
4. Ability to better organize the context by using a colored context icon or category grouping.
5. When creating a new task, have the estimated time duration value (hr:min) as part of the input screen. It seems completely pointless and annoying to have to do this at a later screen or during the Planning session.
6. Use the time duration value for filtering so that if I have 15 minutes free, I can go to a filter for "Calls with <15 minutes" and use the phone to get those tasks done.
7. Ability to edit the comments in a task.
8. Bring back the “Doit Now” priority option as I found that very useful for focusing. Make that a selectable option with the right swipe.
9. Ability add a goal to a task directly in the task creation screen.
10. When inputting a new task in the command line, include the ability to add the time with the date so that the user doesn't have to go back into the task to entire the time.
11. Have a better ability to organize projects with sub folders so that you can group them or identify them easier. Options would be to nest them into folders or color coordinate the project icon.
12. When displaying the tasks in the individual Focus views, include the context and any tags in the line so that the user does not need to open the task to see those values.
13. Improve the tag management system. How are they sorted in the different views as it does not seem to be alphabetical? Make tags configurable view a standard menu and not as it is.
14. When creating a goal, it should also capture the start and due date of it.
15. When in a particular view, include a Sort by option after modifying the Group by option.
16. When in a particular view, have the ability to collapse a particular Group. This was part of v4 and was useful.
17. Relocate the app header (where the pull down, edit and options icons) located at the bottom of the screen just above the bottom header. The reason for this is that on a phone the majority of people use their thumbs to input and having to continuously alter your hands to reach the top left or right of the phone while typing is highly annoying. I have seen other apps make this a configurable option where the customer enable the menu bar to be located at the top or bottom. Or better yet, reconfigure the ME option at the bottom header. See below comment on this.
18. Having the "Me" option in the bottom header seems like a waste of valuable screen property as a user is not going to go into there user settings on a daily basis. I would much rather see the function of the pull down menu moved there and put the ME functions within the pulldown menu. Right now the pull down menu has Groupings of Focus and Done. You could add another Grouping of Settings.
19. I like the addition of the left and right swipe on a task, however I think the functions you call with them need to be reviewed as I don't believe "Delete" is a function that would be commonly used. I have seen other apps give the user the ability to configure what they want the swipes to execute on. I have seen one app go so far to have a short left swipe do function a, a long left swipe to function b and so on for the right swipe. If that is not an option, I would alter replace the left swipe of "Delete" with a "Move to" menu of "Inbox, Tomorrow, Scheduled, Someday, Waiting". The two most changed fields in my life are changing the status to complete and altering the date or time.
20. Ability to do a daily review for the upcoming day instead of having to wait to do it on the day. Planning to have a great day starts the evening before with reviewing the next days tasks.

And by the way, a swipe to change view instead of "delete" is absolutely BRILLIANT! I keep on re-scheduling things so it's going to be a clever move of Doit to apply this idea specifically where one could change task start time on the fly. Now if we can have left swipe to "Move To" a project, and right swipe changes focus (Today, Tomorrow, etc..) Then that is going to be so amazing. I've seen TickTick having this feature and it is invaluable.

@wassim, I had debated about putting my feedback under yours. you make a good point and will copy it under yours to consolidate the beta feedback
I also used TickTick before coming to DoiT. they have a great UI and some features but not as full featured as DoIt.

Thank you so much @agoodwin21 for your trust!
Here I’m to answer your questions and suggestions.
BUG in 5.x
1. When using the Context view, it will not show any tasks for “tomorrow”. The Context header increments the count of items for it but does not actually show the task in the tomorrow section. It does show tasks for today, next and someday. -
— Solved in the latest version V5.1.1 which has just been released in App store.
2. What increments the counter value on the app icon? I ask as yesterday mine said 5, however I had completed all tasks. Today it shows 20, however I only see 15 actual tasks for today. I agree with others that making this number value displayed configurable is highly desired as it just causes unnecessary stress.
— The figure is wrongly presented? Mine is correct. It seems strange and I’ll report it to our engineer. As for the stress, sorry it will still show for the present, since we’re putting efforts first to the urgent and more important things to do. But I’ve made a record of your need. Thank you!
MISSING FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY
3. Ability to add multiple context values to a task such as “Call using phone” and “Agenda with Bob”. Currently, I try using tags to help with this, but the apps tag system is a mess to manage.
— It has already been in our need list, which will be discussed later.
4. Ability to better organize the context by using a colored context icon or category grouping.
— It’s been added to our need list. Thank you!
5. When creating a new task, have the estimated time duration value (hr:min) as part of the input screen. It seems completely pointless and annoying to have to do this at a later screen or during the Planning session.
— We’ll consider it later. But personally I think it would be great to estimate time when you can just focus on the current task during daily planning. While in creating a task, it has usually not been thoroughly thought and carefully organized so you may not estimate the time in an accurate way as you are in Daily Plan. Welcome your opinion.
6. Use the time duration value for filtering so that if I have 15 minutes free, I can go to a filter for “Calls with <15 minutes” and use the phone to get those tasks done.
— Good idea, but has to be designed to make it concise and good to use.
7. Ability to edit the comments in a task.
— To be considered. But I think to be able to delete a comment may be enough.
8. Bring back the “Doit Now” priority option as I found that very useful for focusing. Make that a selectable option with the right swipe.
— Good idea to be considered.
9. Ability add a goal to a task directly in the task creation screen.
— To be considered.
10. When inputting a new task in the command line, include the ability to add the time with the date so that the user doesn’t have to go back into the task to entire the time.
— If you mean the Smart Add, we won’t consider it at least currently, because for most of the tasks, you are not clear about the exact time to do it when you collecting them. Even, the stuffs collected are probably not an action yet. So it’s a little pointless to add time here. As for some events like a meeting, you’re suggested to add it through detail adding mode via ‘+’.
11. Have a better ability to organize projects with sub folders so that you can group them or identify them easier. Options would be to nest them into folders or color coordinate the project icon.
-- Projects can be nested in Goals. Color is not recommended to mark projects since there would be too many. Classify the projects into Active and Inactive, and manually sort the most important projects on top of other projects so that you may see tasks of this projects on top of others when you group tasks of a tasklist by projects. Do these settings still fail to meet your needs?
12. When displaying the tasks in the individual Focus views, include the context and any tags in the line so that the user does not need to open the task to see those values.
-- We have context displayed on task bar now, and tag filter. Could you please tell us your specific scenarios where you need to view all of them in task bars?
13. Improve the tag management system. How are they sorted in the different views as it does not seem to be alphabetical? Make tags configurable view a standard menu and not as it is.
-- They are sorted by use frequency and create time. We'll improve the web version and desktop version after the phone versions. It will be discussed detailedly later. And we'll consider your request.
14. When creating a goal, it should also capture the start and due date of it.
-- It seems if you finish the projects and tasks under it in time, then the goal could be finished in time; if the goal is finished in time, you can do nothing when the due date is coming. So the due date of a goal could be but only used as a description rather than a reminder. So we think it would be not that meaningful to make goal attributes more complicated.
15. When in a particular view, include a Sort by option after modifying the Group by option.
-- It'll be considered.
16. When in a particular view, have the ability to collapse a particular Group. This was part of v4 and was useful.
-- It will be available soon.
-- We'll move 'Me' away and make the position more useful. As for moving the top header to the bottom, it would make the bottom too clumsy, maybe we can think of other solutions.
18. Having the “Me” option in the bottom header seems like a waste of valuable screen property as a user is not going to go into there user settings on a daily basis. I would much rather see the function of the pull down menu moved there and put the ME functions within the pulldown menu. Right now the pull down menu has Groupings of Focus and Done. You could add another Grouping of Settings.
-- To be considered.
19. The two most changed fields in my life are changing the status to complete and altering the date or time.
-- Good idea! We'll discuss about better use of swiping.
20. Ability to do a daily review for the upcoming day instead of having to wait to do it on the day. Planning to have a great day starts the evening before with reviewing the next days tasks.
-- A practical suggestion. We'll discuss about it.
Thank you very much for your great ideas!
I've made a record of them and most of them will be considered and discussed. But please understand that we will at last put just some into practice, not all, and have to realize them based on our development plan and their priorities, not instantly. Of course, we'll improve the user experience of the app from time to time. If you have any other advice or opinions, please just tell us any time. All suggestions are welcome!
Thank you again! -

@Kassy,
Responses below from your earlier answers.
(Agoodwin21) Saying a user is not clear about the exact time to do it when they are collecting info is a poor assumption to make. If the goal of collecting is to make the entry of information as efficient as possible and a one time touch event, the current implementation needs to include the ability to include the time.
11. Have a better ability to organize projects with sub folders so that you can group them or identify them easier. Options would be to nest them into folders or color coordinate the project icon.
-- Projects can be nested in Goals. Color is not recommended to mark projects since there would be too many. Do these settings still fail to meet your needs?
(Agoodwin21) The DoIT team seems to want to recommend using "Goal" as the catch all to handle higher level grouping of projects and task. Technically, it works but muddies the true purpose of GOALS. Plus, the current way GOALS are organized is that it just lists the projects in a collapsed view without the ability to expand all and group by start date, Priority, project, etc. Plus, Goals are not listed as a Filter creation option. How about you create a Project Category option if you don't want to have nested project folders?
12. When displaying the tasks in the individual Focus views, include the context and any tags in the line so that the user does not need to open the task to see those values.
-- We have context displayed on task bar now, and tag filter. Could you please tell us your specific scenarios where you need to view all of them in task bars?
(Agoodwin21) You are correct about context being listed on the second line of a task when viewed in a Focus View. However, the tag is not being displayed in the android app. It would also be benefical to have an icon displayed to indicate if there is a subtask list enclosed within the task. And an icon to indicate if there is a comment enclosed within the task.
Thanks again for all the work you guys are doing. It's coming along nicely.

@Kassy,
Some additional info on
11. Have a better ability to organize projects with sub folders so that you can group them or identify them easier. Options would be to nest them into folders or color coordinate the project icon.

Plus, trying to use Goals in this manner don't work when individual tasks are created as there is no "Goal" field to associated the task to in the input window. Plus there is no way to associate a Project to a Goal in the project creation/edit window. The only way to do it is to go to the Website and drag and drop the project to the Goal which is very inefficient if you are spending most of your time on the mobile device. -

10 We'll discuss about it later.
11 But if you use a Project Category, you may also only see projects in a collapsed view in phone, and you also have to tap into each project to see its tasks.
Goal will be added as an attribute in editing page of project.
And by long-pressing, which will be available soon also on Android, tasks can also be moved to goals.
12 Subtask icon will be added, and comment icon may be considered. The latter may be not that necessary since a new comment from your contact for a sent task will be shown in notification, which will also be available on Android.
Thank you so much!
