Waiting For too limiting regarding Today and Scheduled

I don't see a way to indicate a followup date for a Waiting item. If I Schedule it, then it loses the Waiting information. Same problem with Today... if I want to ping the person for a status, the item in Today loses the Waiting information.

In our system, it is expected that only tasks sent to others can be seen in Waiting for, so that you may review to see the progress of each assigned task.
Although you may also put your own task into Waiting, it is not recommended.
And why do want to put a task with specific start time into Waiting? Since it has already had time to start, you don't need to remember it in your mind, it would come to today when it needs to be started. That's much better than the way it stays in Waiting.
Could you please tell us your specific scenario if you don't agree with me?
