Did the two contacts passed your application?
http://faq.doit.im/web.html#48
Only when your contact passes your application can you send tasks with each other.
Shall you need any help or have additional questions, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your feedback and support.
They are 'AR' and 'Dang' but when I try to assign a task to them it says 'No contacts' in the list. If I try to type their name it comes up with:
"The person's not yet your contact, plea...." (can;t see any more).
If you look at my history of feedback, I logged an issue where I wasn;t getting any confirmation signup email. I wonder if this is related...?

No, I don't believe either ever received an email.
One I know didn't as it was my personal gmail account, the welcome email did not arrive. The other I asked to check and they did not receive it. -

No the 2 contacts are not doit.im users. one is myself on my personal email - I created it as a test.
This may not be the way your system is dessigned, but I want to just create 'people' that I can assign tasks to. They are 'people' - most not doit.im users - that I have delegated certain things to and want to track. So what I want to do is, say,
1. create a contact, called Alan, with no contact details (I will not be sending him emails or tasks through doit)
2. Create a task
3 assign the task to Alan's contact in doit, which I have assigned to Alan (verbally, or through company email) to make it 'Waiting For" and tagged with Alan's name
4. Keep track of all the similar tasks that are assigned to various people / contacts in this way, by looking under "waiting for"
This seems to me to be a reasonable use case, but will not work if you can only assign tasks to other doit users. While I can see that this would encourage lots of other users onto your platform, which would be a good thing for you, it's highly restrictive for anyone who wants to use a standard workflow for delegating / Waiting for.
CAn I suggest this functionality be expanded to include non-doit users? -

@Adrad
Hello,
What you described above is not supported. :( Now, you can only send tasks to Doit.im users.
You may do as follows to have a try. A stands for the email you are using now. B stands for your another email for testing.
1. Delete the contact B in A's contact list.
2. Use B to register a new Doit.im account (also call it "B").
3. Add B as A's contact. A sends the application to B.
4. Go to B's Doit.im and pass the application from A.
5. A and B now are able to send tasks with each other.
If there is anything unclear, please feel free to let me know. For your suggestion, we will consider it in the future.
Thank you for your feedback and support.
