OK, panic level reduced. On logging out and back into the PC version, it is throwing an error that says it cannot negotiate the proxy server (no idea why this would be the case, as it should be going direct, but anyway.,..
The point is that this was not visible at all within the appliucation, there was no indication that it was having trouble syncing or connecting to the doit server. Suggest strongly that this should alert within the application.
This is critical for a decent GTD application. Please advise.

Q1: My tasks appear to be out of sync. As you can see from the attachment, I have several tasks that appear in one but not the other. This is critical for a decent GTD application. Please advise.
A: Data on which platform is right? On the web? Do you mean that it was fixed when you logged out of the app and then relogged into it?
Now on the Windows app, Sync takes place automatically every 3 minutes. But with the shortcut “Ctrl + R”. You can manually sync anytime.
If you still have this issue after manual sync, could you please send us the sync log under the installation directory? (Right click the Doit.im icon on the desktop and select "Properties". Copy the address next to “Start position" and pasted it to the address bar on your computer. On the page that comes up, you'll see the ”sync logs"file.)
Q2: On logging out and back into the PC version, it is throwing an error that says it cannot negotiate the proxy server (no idea why this would be the case, as it should be going direct, but anyway.,..
A: Could you please also give us the screenshot of this error?

Further to this, today I have now discovered that a lot of updates I have made this morning have disappeared.
Basically I was working offline on my laptop on my way into work. Added a few tasks and edited several others. On arriving into the office and plugging into the network, I checked the web version (and CTRL+R'd to sync). The updates from the desktop were not updated into the web client, and an update I had made to the iphone version was also not pulled down to the PC version.
As last time this was resolved by logging out and back in, I did that again. However this now appears to have deleted the new items / updates that I had made in the PC version, effectively re-loading back to the version that was onlne (without the offline changes.
This is getting more than a little frustrating.

Updated log file. Approx timings:
Working offline until approx 7.45am
Online and internet connected until approx 8.10am
Logged out per above to attempt to sync (synced and lost new tasks)
Changed Internet options / Proxy settings to disable access to internet (so as to attempt to get the error message you requested above)
Reopened Doit PC app. No error message appeared. system indicated it was syncing (Apple-style waiting spinning circle).
No error message to advise unable to connect to server or sync failure.

Sorry to bother you. Here, could you please provide us with more info about this issue?
When you plug into the network, could you normally browse the webpage using IE? Did the proxy you use need account and password?
Proxy in Doit.im will read the proxy settings in IE. Account and password can be configured on the Doit.im login page. On the login page, there is a gear-shaped icon at upper right. Click it and it will go to the proxy setting page.

Did the proxy you use need account and password? - not required to be entered, my network account has permission to access the internet at work.

@Adrad
When you re-log in the app, it would fetch data from the server. But before you log out of the app , the local changes haven't been uploaded to the server yet. Therefore, the local data was lost. :(
Next time, if you find that data in the client-side is not synced to the web version, please do not try "re-log in" immediately.
And for this issue, we will go on checking it. Now, could you normally use it?
We apologize for the inconvenience.

I've switched to using the browser version on my laptop. I won't use the PC version if it has these types of issue.

Hello,
Do you also refer to the windows app? And Is it the latest version 1.5.9?
Did you try manual sync? Hitting Ctrl+R will trigger a manual sync on the windows app.
If the problem still exits after a manual sync, could you please send us the sync logs of these days on which this issue happened? To get the sync log, right click the Doit.im icon on the desktop. Copy the address in the "Start position" box and paste it to the address bar on your PC. On the page that comes up, open "logs" and find the logs.
If convenient, please also give us some screenshots that relate to this issue.
We are so sorry for the inconvenience that caused to you. -

Hi Michelle,
yeah, the problem is the windows app. I tried the manual sync and after some time it fails, with the following message at the bottom of the window:
Last updated at 01:23 2013/08/27, latest auto-sync failed'
Unfortunately, there were no logs in the directory indicated by Start in: "C:\Program Files\Doit".
I don't know what version I'm using, perhaps is an old one since I haven;t updated for a while.
Hope this helps,

Actually, I just verified the version I'm using is 0.8.1, should I try to just upgrade?
thanks,

@eliasib
Now, the latest version for windows is 1.5.9. It can only be used on Windows 7+.
http://enblog.doit.im/post/53349864510/doit-im-for-windows-1-5-9-release-notes
And in your case, you have two choice.
1. Update to the latest version and your data can be synced but the local data will be lost.
2. Go on using your current windows version 0.8.1. But you are unable to enjoy sync and we do not maintain this version any more.
Thinking long term, we hope that you can select to update to the latest version. And then move your data to it gradually by yourself, because we cannot fetch your local data.
If there is anything else that we can help with, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks,
I think I will just have to upgrade to the latest version.
I wish I had being warned by the program and that I could upgrade while keeping the data.

@eliasib
Hello,
In the latest version, there is a support for for auto detecting new version and one-click update. Meanwhile, in case for data loss, there is a prompt asking to sync on logout.
Shall you need any other help or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Thanks for your support on Doit.im.
