@mtrahan
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback.
Q1: First, why do tasks + contexts/projects take two lines on the Windows client? On the web-based client, @context and #project information is simply put at the end of the line and that is great, specially if you sort by project already. On the Windows client, displaying this basic information on two lines takes way too much space, specially if you consider how small the client window is when you call it with ctrl-shift-M (the application doesn't remember when you resize it and that is another problem...). Can I hope to see this changed sometime in the future? As it is right now, specially when you sort your lists by project, the visual information you get is very redundant...
A: We are now trying redesigning the app and in the new version, task and @Context/#Project will be on the same line. :)
Q2: Second, and this is related to the problem talked about in this thread: http://help.doit.im/topics/877, it is not possible to launch the Doit.im Windows client from the Start menu or the task bar. The only ways I managed to get the client to open is by double-clicking on the tray icon and by pressing ctrl-shift-M. And it is rather strange and annoying. For example, I pinned Doit.im to the task bar, and clicking on the icon simply does a big nothing. Let's say I open the client with ctrl-shift-M, and I minimize it: there is no way to get it open by clicking on taskbar icon or Startmenu... Please fix this bug.
A: It is not a bug, but a current rule we define. To open the main window, double-click on the tray icon or press ctrl-shift-M. And when you minimize the app, there will be no Doit.im on the taskbar unless you lock it o the taskbar. Do you mean that you want to also make the main window open by clicking the taskbar icon and Startmenu?
Shall you need any help or have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks for your feedback and support.
I'm a new Doit.im user and I love it so far, I'm about to go "Pro" but I'm a bit concerned about some UI elements and other stuff in the Windows client.

Yes, precisely. I tend to keep pinned in the task bar all the things I use the most. For Doit.im, it's also a way to think about using it while I'm in "transition". I'm slowly getting used to it though, thanks to keyboards macros I set for smart add task + ctrl-shift-M. Well, it's just that I would be happy to see Doit.im act like any other software in the taskbar and startmenu (I mean: open after a click). But I guess I'll live with it and stick with you guys if you decide to let it like that.
By the way, there are two other small problems I noticed with the current Windows client. First, when using "quick add" task, it is not possible to set due time while using the date format we chose in our preferences. For example I choose date format "dd/mm/yyyy" but when I use quick add I'm forced to use "^mm-dd" or "^yyyy-mm-dd" format. Is it possible to change it so that it uses by default our chosen format? That would be nice.
And lastly, there seem to be no way to add a new @Context through the Windows client? I had to go to the web-based client to add a new one and then sync to get it back in the Windows one. Maybe I missed it. And it's not a big problem for me, since I probably won't add anymore contexts, but it might confuses some users.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply and keep up the good work.

Oh and very glad to know that tasks and @Context/#Project will be on the same line on the future. Thanks!

A: We will consider improving it.

A: I am afraid that there is no option for setting the date format In the Windows client, Where did you find it? Could you please give some related screenshots?
And in addition, you said, " it is not possible to set due time". Due time or start time? Now the Windows client only supports adding a start time to a task.

A: Right click the tray icon and you can select to add a new context. :)
We are grateful for your support on Doit.im. -

I meant in the web-based client. We can choose preferred 'Date format' in the Preferences. It would be nice if the effect of this choice could be universal and then used on other platforms. Like in the Windows smart add task.
Thanks again for the helpful support.

@mtrahan
The option to set date format, which day a week starts on, etc will be added to the Windows app in the future. Now, it haven't been supported yet, so there is no influence on the windows app if you change the date format on other platforms, like on the web.
If there is anything else that we can help with, please feel free to let us know.
We are grateful for your support on Doit.im.
